The object
Nine weights of graduated size, each with its handle and none with a stamp the holder can read, kept in a tin with their tokens — punched discs and short bars, mostly brass and mostly plain. The tin is the reason they survived; it has a lid, a handle, and a dent along one side from being stood on.
Flaws disclosed by the holder
The holder declares no flaws observed.
Where it came from
From a grocer’s shop in Tanta that the family closed rather than sold; the weights were behind the scale and the tin was under the counter, and nobody has used either since 1988.
